A new kind of head and heart space for arts workers with visions of evolutionary grandeur. Bill + george was created in response to the lack of affordable creative spaces in the city; it sees itself as a vital enzyme in the production of dynamic and meaningful cultures and considers access to a caring and dynamic community critical to healthy art adventures. Along with the provision of rehearsal and studio space, Bill + George also runs a program called ArtSlab which provides a large collaborative space for select groups of artists three times a year. This web blog is one outlet for churning out and turning over the many ideas and projects that have been spurned as part of this space.
Dear Bill and George,
Hi, My name is Pepa Martin. I am a textile artist looking for an art space. I work with a friend Karen Davis and we produce beautiful textiles and soft furnishings using a modernised ancient Japanese technique of fabric manipulation called “Shibori”. We currently produce all our art at home and are looking to get a better space and meet more artisans.
Please let me know if you have any spaces available for our small business.
I look forward to your response,
Pepa
PS(What a wonderful thing you are doing for the art community, good on you!)
hey, definately interested in hearing more/checking out the space. I’m a filmmaker, just finishing post on my second feature film LOVELY SCARY WOLVES about a bunch of young creatives who take over the top floor of a Surrey Hills office block, make karaoke videos and declare war on the government. And looking for a cool space so I’m not just working out of my Bondi apartment.
